Hotel Colonial Villavieja features an outdoor swimming pool, garden, a shared lounge and terrace in Villavieja. The property has a bar, as well as a restaurant serving local cuisine. This hotel has rooms all around a central court yard. The restaurant is in the court yard and there are beautiful plants which attract birds and give an overall look of freshness. The restaurant has powerful fans which help with the heat. Our room had an aircon, which is rare for Villavieja and Tatacoa. The beds were comfortable and although there is only cold water, it was no problem because of the heat in this area. The breakfast consisted of fruit juice, toast and eggs made to order, and coffee. It was nice and more than enough. We had lunch once and dinner twice at the hotel's restaurant and the food was delicious. We also had very good cocktails. The restaurant is open all day till 10 pm. They also have an ice cream fridge where you can buy different delicious ice creams any time of day. The staff were very friendly and helpful and some of them do speak English. We asked them to arrange our transport from Neiva airport to the hotel and to arrange a tuk tuk and guide to take us to the Grey dessert and Red dessert the day after our arrival (our only full day in Villavieja). Yeison Medina waited for us at the airport when we arrived late on a Sunday night and transported us to the hotel. He also happened to be our guide for the dessert trips. He is a professional guide at the observatory as well and he was very knowledgeable about the geology, the history and the fauna and flora of the dessert. He spoke English well enough, he was very funny and full of jokes and we had a wonderful day with him. He was also a magician with a cell phone and took very creative photos of us in the dessert. We will remember him every time we look at our holiday photos. Hotel Villavieja is definitely the obvious choice if you plan to visit the Tatacoa dessert. Don't bother to find a tuk tuk on the square or anywhere else for dessert tours, just ask the hotel to arrange it for you and hope that Yeison Medina is your guide.

Set in Villavieja in the Huila region, Hostal Arámbulo features a patio and inner courtyard views. Featuring a 24-hour front desk, this property also provides guests with a sun terrace. The host made us feeling like home. She is extremely welcoming, prepares amazing breakfast, coffee and house-made lemonade in-between. I can definitely recommend the offered tour to the Tatacoa desert. They also organized a collectivo back to neiva for us.

Biohotel tatacoa Qji is set in Villavieja and has a pool with a view and garden views. There is an in-house restaurant and free private parking. We loved our stay here. It was a bit of a splurge for us on an otherwise budget trip to Colombia and it did not disappoint. We loved stargazing on the net hammock and generally being in the middle of nowhere. Cindy was very friendly and prepared excellent food.

Hotel Villa Paraiso is located in Villavieja. Free WiFi is available throughout the property and free private parking is available on site. Great location, comfortable, pool!

Hotel Shaddai features a garden, terrace, a restaurant and bar in Villavieja. Very quiet and tranquil the staff is excellent.Juan Felipe, Raphael andBrian are the best. Very attentive and eager to accommodate. Food is very good. The outdoor space is lovely, great place to relax and read a book The personal pool is very nice as well. The kettle for coffee and tea in the room is a great idea.

Situated in Villavieja, Avani del desierto has a garden, restaurant, bar, and free WiFi throughout the property. There is free private parking and the property features paid airport shuttle service. The location is great as it’s really close to the Tatacoa Desert. We stayed here for one night on a ride through South America on our motorcycles. Ricardo and his wife are really pleasant people and we were able to store our bike there for the day while we were visiting the desert.

A recently renovated guest house, LUNA del DESIERTO TATACOA offers accommodation in Villavieja. Free WiFi is available and private parking can be arranged at an extra charge. I stayed in a private room and it was great value for money. Andrea was so kind and helpful, offering me food and drinks throughout my stay. She also helped me to organise a wonderful tour in the desert and my bus back to Neiva. Good kitchen and Wi-Fi. Luna the dog was so cute too!

Located just a 10 minutes walk outside of Villavieja, this beautiful cabin works great as a starting point for exploring the area. It has a great bed, amazing bathroom, a kitchen, a TV, air conditioning, and a laundry machine. There is a good, local restaurant almost next door where you can eat, or you can go into town.

EL CIELO By Ruby in Villavieja has a restaurant and a garden. The hotel features family rooms. All units in the hotel are fitted with a flat-screen TV. The facilities were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious.
